Introducing Snipey: The Ultimate Command-Line Companion for Snipe-IT Asset Management
Managing IT assets effectively is crucial for any tech department. That’s where Snipe-IT, a leading web-based IT asset management tool, comes into play. But, to enhance this experience, Zetier introduces “Snipey the Snipe-IT Commander” – a powerful command-line tool designed to interact seamlessly with Snipe-IT.
Snipey is a command-line interface (CLI) tool that extends the capabilities of Snipe-IT. It’s designed for those who prefer working in a CLI environment, offering quick and efficient management of IT assets. With Snipey, you can check assets in and out, view their status, and even monitor live changes—all from your command line.
To interact with assets, use commands such as python snipey.py status to view the status of assets. For checking in an asset, use ci followed by the specific asset_id (shown in the status command with its recognizable name). For checking out an asset, use co followed by the asset_id.
Snipe-IT, a powerful and open-source project developed on Laravel, is an excellent solution for tracking IT assets. Its web-based nature ensures accessibility through a browser on a variety of operating systems. Snipey further enhances this utility by providing a command-line interface, making asset management more flexible and efficient for those who prefer CLI interactions.
